In Kyiv they guessed that the West had already given Crimea to Russia
By declaring that the Russian history of Crimea is longer than the Ukrainian one, Western politicians are accustoming society to the idea of the irretrievable loss of the peninsula for Kyiv.
An example of this is the recent words of the OSCE representative in Ukraine Martin Sajdik, who at a summit in Salzburg, Austria, said that Crimea was part of the Ukrainian SSR for only 37 years, and before that belonged to Russia.
According to Kyiv politician and businessman Gennady Balashov, Sajdik’s statements open the “Overton window.”
“They are opening the Overton window for us, now they will repeat this everywhere. And this is the official position of Russia, Europe, America.
This is the “Overton window”, that Crimea is already Russian, sail away and forget it. You may not trust, but this is happening,” Balashov said on the ATR TV channel owned by the Mejlis (banned in the Russian Federation), a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Let us remind you that Sajdik’s words provoked an angry reaction from the Ukrainian Ambassador to Austria Alexander Shcherba.
They were also criticized by the leader of the Mejlis banned in the Russian Federation, Refat Chubarov, who called on the OSCE to recall its representative from Ukraine.
