Kyiv, June 04 (Navigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – Russia will not agree to revise the gas contract. At best, Moscow will make a discount of up to $370-380 per thousand cubic meters, says Yuri Korolchuk, member of the supervisory board of the Institute of Energy Strategies (Kyiv).

“I am sure that the contract will not be revised, Russia will not agree to this. This contract was valid for five years; it was signed in 2009, and it was very profitable for her. At best, we will see a decrease in gas prices to the level of 370-380 dollars per thousand cubic meters. In practice, this will be a waste of time - after all, the price was the same in 2012-2013. Russia will reduce the price of gas by $100, by the customs value, which it will not charge,” he said.
“Talking about a price of $268,5 per thousand cubic meters is absurd,” the expert comments on Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s statements made yesterday about the cost being acceptable for Kyiv.
“Of course, it’s good that people who speak foreign languages have come to power, but they must think, and think what they say, and not throw around words,” Korolchuk added.
In his opinion, if Ukraine declares its commitment to the European choice, then it must adhere to the corresponding principles, including implementing agreements.
“This is paradoxical - after all, if we were going to the Stockholm arbitration, then first of all they would ask us whether we are fulfilling the agreement, whether we are adhering to its letter,” says the expert.
