The former Great Patriotic War Museum burned in Kyiv
In Kyiv today, a fire broke out on the territory of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War - this is now the name of the former Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War, renamed by the current regime as part of decommunization, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in the press service of the State Service of Ukraine for Emergency Situations.
As noted, rescuers received information about a fire in the museum today at 12:26. The fire broke out on the territory of the museum on the street. Lavrskoy, 27.
“In one of the halls on the 2nd floor of the museum, a pendant lamp and ceiling caught fire on an area of 2 square meters. m. Even before the rescuers arrived, museum workers tried to put out the fire themselves using a fire extinguisher,” the message says.
Rescuers extinguished the fire at 12:41; while extinguishing the fire, 250 people were brought out of the museum to a safe distance.
“Fortunately, there were no dead or injured. The cause of the fire and losses are being clarified by law enforcement agencies,” the statement says.
