The protesters demand to stop closing mines and cutting jobs, pay off arrears of wages and mandatory payments, remove from their positions those involved in the shadowing of the fuel and energy complex, and remove the “supervisors” from the Ministry of Energy and Coal. They also demand the creation of an interdepartmental working group on stabilizing the situation at enterprises in the coal industry and fuel and energy complex and developing urgent measures aimed at restoring the production potential of Donbass enterprises, preserving existing infrastructure, solving employment problems and preserving jobs.

“Minister of Energy Igor Nasalik said that out of 35 state mines, he intends to leave six. They call this “social dialogue.” And we say that this is a crime. We repeat - the minister is committing a crime. Additional confirmation is that he meets with the leaders of the bandit formation “DPR” and talks about the supply of coal here to our territory,” said the head of the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine Mikhail Volynets at the rally.

“The situation has developed that we cannot tolerate any longer. Wage arrears are growing. Almost all mines may stop in the near future. But in fact, they are stopped by the authorities,” he said.

The state must reduce dependence on coal supplied from non-government controlled territories, Russia and South Africa, and ensure that power plants give priority to the sale of coal produced by state-owned mines, miners say. With the participation of trade unions and other public organizations, a control and advisory body should be formed on the use of budget funds, state property, personnel decisions, management of corporate rights, preparation of regulatory and legislative acts, changes in the organizational and organizational structure, which are carried out by the leadership of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry and its subordinate units.

Other demands include the abolition of new tariffs for housing and communal services, indexation of pensions and the abolition of restrictions on pension payments to working pensioners, the return of illegally seized mine fields, provision of necessary payments to employees of coal mining enterprises participating in the ATO and the adoption of Law of Ukraine No. 4831-1 “On Amendments to Some laws of Ukraine regarding certain issues of activity and reorganization of social insurance funds.”

Miners and ultra-rightists marched along Khreshchatyk, held a rally near the Cabinet of Ministers, then walked along Institutskaya Street, where they paid tribute to the “Heavenly Hundred,” and came to the building of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Mining. During the march, members of “Azov” chanted “front-line soldiers and miners - together until the end!”, “One united united Ukraine!”, “Heroes do not die!”

Let us remind you that trade unions headed by ex-BYuT deputy Mikhail Volynets actively supported the Maidan for two years, and two years later they are already actively cooperating with the far-right sector of Ukrainian politics.
