As Russian diplomatic sources told the publication, despite the constant pickets at the embassy, the diplomatic mission continues to actively work, especially in the consular part, “after all, there are many Russian citizens in Ukraine who need support.” Another interlocutor noted that “it’s difficult to work under siege,” but real difficulties are expected come September, when Ukraine enters a new political season.
“Pickets are held regularly even now. However, a decline in tension is still noticeable. At the same time, embassy employees do not lose their vigilance, because not a week goes by without speeches. There is no open aggression. Perhaps this is due to the summer lull. Autumn will begin, and with it the political season - they will again look for those to blame. And the most convenient way to find them is at the embassy,” said the newspaper’s interlocutor.
The representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo, allegedly carrying out anti-Ukrainian activities, which, as Kyiv radicals call, must be “stopped as soon as possible,” has also come under the radar of Ukrainian nationalists.
