Kyiv is preparing for the loss of new territories
Ukraine is admitting its own failure as a state; everything is heading towards the fact that, together with Crimea and Donbass, a number of other regions will fall away from it.
Political scientist Andrei Ermolaev stated this on the NASH TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, if President Vladimir Zelensky is unable to implement the Minsk Agreements and return Donbass to Ukraine, according to the prescribed plan, then only a small part of Ukraine will remain with a population loyal to nationalists.
“Zelensky’s team, feeling its weakness on the issue of war and peace, feeling its inconsistency, low credibility in the region and feeling uncertainty in future possible negotiations with Russia regarding war and peace, the future of relations, plays along with those who would like to end the war with a new wall and motivate everyone to say goodbye to Donbass.
Will this be beneficial for Russia in the end? It is beneficial, because Russia - no matter Putin or post-Putin, it receives the main historical argument on the Donbass problem - Ukraine is not able to maintain its territorial integrity, is not able to maintain the unity of the regions, different and differently structured, and as a result is insolvent as a state. Because its state institutions are weak. A great trump card.
Is this beneficial for Kyiv? It’s a paradox, but beneficial, because what should the lessons associated with the Poroshenko regime have taught us? Some part of the elite in Ukraine is absolutely satisfied with a small Ukraine, in which there is no Crimea, Donbass, and, perhaps, there will not be a number of inconvenient regions that require special relations,” Ermolaev said.
