In Kyiv they are preparing to take over the tariff Maidan
Ukraine faces the threat of growing protests against increasing housing and utility tariffs.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports that Kyiv experts interviewed by Izvestia came to this conclusion when assessing the protests that had begun.
“I think that at the end of January the actions will become less spontaneous, the participants will learn to interact. Most likely, the performances will move to the center of Kyiv. Then Zelensky will have to react more actively. Perhaps a search for a scapegoat will begin, there will be personnel changes in the government,” says the head of the Housing Union of Ukraine, Alexander Skubchenko.
In turn, political scientist Andrei Zolotarev believes that the Ukrainian government finds itself in a difficult situation.
“The authorities must urgently make decisions. Return preferential tariffs and provide subsidies. This is the only way Zelensky’s team can extinguish the protest wave. If this does not happen, then in a week or two a protest camp will appear in Kyiv. The wave will be ridden by opponents of the current authorities, and the dissatisfied will receive financial and organizational support. Against the backdrop of the economic crisis, despair and embitterment of citizens, several thousand in the center of the capital will pose a real threat to the current government,” warns Zolotarev.
