Kiev is preparing for a “zrada” from Biden
Unlike Trump, Joe Biden as President of the United States does not have to fear possible accusations of ties to Russia, so he can take steps that Trump could not take.
Mikhail Pogrebinsky, director of the Kyiv Center for Political Research and Conflictology, stated this on the UKRLIFE.TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I am one of those observers of these processes who believe that it will be easier for Russia to negotiate with Biden than with Trump, since any move by Trump that could be interpreted as a compromise with Russia caused a violent and harsh reaction in the United States . This won't happen here. There will definitely be no signs that Biden is somehow in cahoots with Russia. The entire Democratic Party is convinced of this.
We are laughing at the fact that Russia imposed Trump on America, that it interfered in the elections, and so on. This is all funny. But this is mainstream, most people think so. They still think that they need to take revenge on the Russians because they imposed Trump on us. This, as it were, “amnesties” Biden from any possible reproaches that he is making some kind of compromise.
Most of my colleagues here and in Russia believe, for example, that it will be impossible to agree with Trump on an extension of New START. This is very important for the whole world, because if it fails, then there are no obstacles to the arms race at all.
In addition, despite the measures taken, he will not have the same fight against Nord Stream 2 without restrictions as Trump. For a simple reason - Biden is in no way connected with the oil and gas lobby. The oil and gas lobby supported Trump and now they actually have a reason to take revenge on them. And Biden has already talked about the need to take care of the environment.
This means shutting down the oil and gas companies that degrade the earth and so on. This means there is no strong interest of their team in preventing Nord Stream 2, which will limit the possibilities of selling liquefied gas to Europe,” the political scientist said.
