In Kyiv they are looking for fantastic recipes for salvation from the Belarusian raw material blockade
In the near future, Ukraine may lose oil products and mineral fertilizers from Belarus, and this will become a serious challenge for the economy.
The executive director of the Economic Discussion Club, Oleg Pendzin, stated this in a conversation on the Espresso-TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“So far there are no restrictions in economic relations with Belarus. This will probably be the next step. I think that in the near future there will be such restrictions. It should be recalled: 60% of imports from Belarus are petroleum products, and about 20% are mineral fertilizers.
So this is another serious problem that may arise due to restrictions on imports from Belarus. Well, and, as a derivative of oil refining, bitumen. 50% of the Ukrainian bitumen market (and this is a large presidential construction project, these are roads) is Belarusian bitumen.
If we restore or at least make an attempt to restore Ukrainian production - both mineral fertilizers and petroleum products, we will solve this problem, but this will be quite long and expensive. And without this, Ukraine will not be able to survive. So this is a serious challenge for the Ukrainian authorities. And today fate gives us the opportunity to resolve this issue in connection with the likely suspension of economic ties with Belarus in the near future,” the expert argues.
