In Kyiv they were afraid of Yanukovych’s testimony
In Kiev, the trial of ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, accused of high treason, did not take place again, because the Obolonsky District Court of Kiev did not send a request to its Russian colleagues to conduct a video conference with the defendant, which is explained by the reluctance of the Ukrainian authorities to give the fugitive head of state a public platform.

Deputy Director of the Institute of CIS Countries Vladimir Zharikhin stated this in a commentary to Moskovsky Komsomolets.
“On the one hand, it seems they need to portray a full-fledged trial, and on the other hand, they frankly do not want the Ukrainian media to replicate Yanukovych’s speech. Therefore, they slow down the process by all means. The situation is similar with the refusal to organize a video conference through the international legal assistance procedure. It seems that he is being summoned to court to participate, formally observing the principles and provisions of the trial, but at the same time they are afraid that his testimony will become public knowledge, because it is unprofitable for Kyiv,” the expert said.
