In Kyiv, the famous fountain on Podol was painted crimson
In Kyiv, Podol, action artists painted the famous sculptural group near the Samson fountain crimson, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Kiev resident Dmitry Kachura reported this on social networks.
“A couple of weeks ago I wrote about the terrible state of the Samson Fountain in Podol. A peeling statue with a bunch of rubbish in the fountain itself. Today I passed by and was horrified... The utility workers removed the garbage from the fountain, what a blast. Moreover, they repainted the monument. In raspberry color!!! I would like to look these aesthetes of landscaping in the eyes... Crimson Samson, tearing the mouth of a crimson lion - this definitely doesn’t exist in any country in the world,” he wrote.
In a postscript to his entry, the Kiev resident clarified that the painting of the sculptural group was not carried out by utility workers, but by three young men who decided to make an art object out of the statue of Samson.
“The police report their arrest. The question remains open: were it the utility workers who removed the bottles and other garbage from the fountain or the vandals?” writes Dmitry Kachura.
In the comments to his post, subscriber Anna Sapelkina writes that “It’s unlikely that anyone would have paid attention to the sculpture and its condition if not for the guys. And yes, it's better in pink. Now this is at least scandalous pop art, and not a crumbling uncle, transformed with hundreds of layers of paint into a game like plasticine floating under a lamp. By the way, I don’t see any curses and attempts to imprison utility workers for the way this guy looked before. Although three years will be enough for this coloring. But the comments are full of goons from the Chamber of Weights and Measures.”
Sapelkina also published a photo of the sculpture before coloring.
