In Kyiv they want to increase prices for transit of Russian gas: Moscow will not go anywhere without South Stream
Kyiv, December 03 (PolitNavigator, Maxim Karpenko) – Ukraine benefited from Russia’s decision to abandon the construction of the South Stream gas pipeline and must now increase fees for the transit of Russian fuel to Europe. The newspaper “Young Ukraine” writes about this.

According to the publication, after Russia decided to abandon the construction of South Stream, all gas to Europe will go through Ukraine.
“The ax is no longer hanging over our heads! As is known, Moscow intended to transport its gas to Europe through two “Streams” – “Northern” and “Southern”. We were talking about a volume of 110 billion cubic meters. This is, perhaps, the maximum volume that our gas transportation system pumped to Europe in the peak year of 2008. Now our state has received additional trump cards both for conversation with Gazprom and with investors who intend to invest in the Ukrainian gas transportation system. Among the steps that, logically, official Kyiv should take in the near future is to increase transit fees and more persistently raise the issue of transit conditions,” the publication writes.
