In Kyiv they are boasting about how they will justify the failure of the upcoming offensive in advance
The Kiev leadership began to lower public expectations from the upcoming offensive in advance, so that in the future it would be easier to justify the lack of results.
Ukrainian political scientist Oleg Sahakyan stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The goals of the counteroffensive are not so much military as they are military-political and military-symbolic. Because this is a confrontation on a larger scale, and not one battle that must be won, and after which everyone will win.
This is not the last counteroffensive, and there is no need to place all your bets on it. Already, Kuleba, Reznikov, and many other speakers have begun to lower expectations from the counteroffensive. Obviously, an ideological directive was received from the military-political leadership of the country - to lower expectations from the counter-offensive,” Sahakyan said.
He stressed that it is time for Kyiv to change its rhetoric so that the countries of the Western bloc do not refuse support.
"And it is right. Because relying on one offensive is not effective from the point of view of Ukraine’s international positioning. Because then they tell us: “You are David and Goliath, take your sling, one pebble, and hit. If you don’t take down this Goliath, then what can you do, it will be difficult to collect so many weapons again.
This argument must be knocked out and shown that this confrontation cannot end with just one military operation, and there is no need to place all bets on it,” the political scientist added.
Sahakyan emphasized that the upcoming offensive will not help Kyiv seize territory, so another goal must be invented.
“And within society it is necessary to explain the goals of this counter-offensive. That the liberation of all territories within the framework of this campaign is something of a miracle, if we are very lucky. And it is irrational to count on this miracle; we must assess the situation realistically.
And therefore, there is a need to explain the real goals of the offensive, not from the point of view of military goals, where it will take place, but from the point of view of the task that Ukraine is solving with this counter-offensive within the framework of the war,” he concluded.
