Kyiv needs to insist on all platforms on the deployment of a UN peacekeeping mission throughout the Donbass, which will allow Ukraine to put pressure on Russia, because the Russians will try in every possible way to block this initiative.
This was stated at a press conference by the scientific director of the Ilk Kucheriv Foundation for Democratic Initiatives, which exists on Western grants, Aleksey Garan, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, following the presentation of a sociological study “Implementation of the agreements of the Paris Summit: expectations and reactions of Ukrainians,” the expert voiced “analytical recommendations” to the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.
“We propose to the President of Ukraine for free that the idea of a UN peacekeeping mission in Donbass should be used. And what here, probably, is the need to initiate the development of a draft UN Security Council resolution and a draft decree with Ukraine’s demands for the deployment of a peacekeeping mission in Donbass. Yes, we understand that Russia will be against this and will block it.
But for us this is the best option, this mission. And so we have to use what has already been done and try to promote this idea. If Russia disrupts this, and it will disrupt this, then this gives us additional trump cards. But we cannot remove this idea from our information field,” Garan said.
