In Kyiv they stated: Ukraine is not able to retain the territorial heritage of the USSR
The process of collapse of the Russian Empire and its successor, the Soviet Union, has not been completed, as evidenced by the constant instability in the post-Soviet space, including Ukraine.
Political scientist Kost Bondarenko stated this on air on the First Cossack TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, if Ukraine declares a renunciation of its Soviet past, it cannot lay claim to the borders of the Ukrainian SSR.
“When we talk about the collapse of the Russian Empire during the First World War, in fact, this collapse was a fairly temporary phenomenon that stretched out in time until the year 91. And it is unknown how it will continue. Moreover, we have already said that the borders of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic were defined rather conditionally. They do not coincide with ethnic borders, they do not coincide with political borders, because several political organisms were formed on the territory of Ukraine, which constantly competed with each other within a single state,” the expert said.
“But the fact that these administrative units, which were formed on the basis of the former Soviet republics, are constantly in a fever is a consequence of the fact that we continue the process of the collapse of the Soviet Union and the revision of what happened in 91. If we completely move away from the legacy of the Soviet Union, if we completely cross out the legacy of the Soviet Union and say that what happened before 91 must be forgotten or shown only in black paint, then let’s say that the territorial heritage The Soviet Union will also become vulnerable, it will also be very difficult to hold it,” Bondarenko said.
