In Kyiv, a Crimean citizen was convicted of participating in the “Russian Spring”
The Darnitsky District Court of Kyiv sentenced a Crimean citizen, who was accused of participating in the “Russian Spring” in 2014, to five years in prison.
This was reported by the fake Ukrainian prosecutor's office of Crimea, which has nothing to do with the Russian peninsula, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Crimean citizen was detained in the Kherson region on August 28 this year. He was charged with violating Part 2 of Art. 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (participation in the activities of an armed formation not provided for by law). According to Ukrainian investigators, in 2014 he was a member of the Crimea Self-Defense organization.
“The pre-trial investigation established that the specified citizen of Ukraine in February 2014 joined the illegal armed formation “Crimea Self-Defense.” Together with other “self-defense” members, he took an active part in the events of February 26, 2014 under the building of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. For his participation in the functioning of this illegal armed group, he received a monetary reward and was also awarded the medal of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation “For the return of Crimea,” the message says.
The Ukrainian prosecutor's office also assures that the convict fully admitted his guilt, repented, cooperated with the investigation and spoke about other participants in self-defense, which is why he was released from punishment with a probationary period of three years.
