Kiev rejoices as a British spy ship entered the Black Sea
The British Navy hydrographic ship HMS Echo (H87) entered the Black Sea on December 17, although the British Secretary of Defense had previously promised his Ukrainian counterpart Stepan Poltorak that the entry would take place only in 2019.
Economist Andrei Klimenko, who escaped from Crimea and once worked for the Party of Regions, happily reports this on his Facebook page, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Now in the Sea of Azov, Great Britain and the Royal Navy are carrying out communications ahead of schedule, given after the situation in the Sea of Azov worsened. This is the first NATO warship to visit during the Black Time with a direct statement of the purpose of the visit, which is related to the Azov crisis - to demonstrate Britain’s support for freedom of navigation in the region,” Klimenko wrote.
He clarified that in fact HMS Echo will perform purely reconnaissance missions.
“This modern ship is designed to conduct reconnaissance operations in support of submarines and amphibious operations. It can transmit tailored information almost in real time,” Klimenko wrote.
