This was stated by the Minister of Social Policy Andrei Reva on the NewsOne TV channel.
According to Reva, the law provides for the abolition of pension payments to those internally displaced persons who stayed in territory not controlled by Ukraine for more than 60 days.
“We have a law on freedom of movement. But there is also one limitation that is spelled out in the law: if a person spends more than 60 days in territory not controlled by Ukraine or even outside of Ukraine, being an internally displaced person, he loses this status,” the head of the Ministry of Social Policy emphasized.
He noted that when a citizen loses such status, payments to him as an internally displaced person under the simplified procedure, which provides for the refusal of pensions remaining in uncontrolled territories, are terminated.
“Border services record the movement of a person in one direction and the other (contact lines - ed.). If they find that a person has been absent from the controlled territory for more than 60 days, they inform the social protection authorities, who cancel the status of an internally displaced person and, accordingly, stop all social payments until it becomes clear what happened to the person,” Reva concluded .
Let us recall that for the last two years, after Ukraine’s official refusal to pay pensions to residents of the DPR and LPR, there was an unspoken semi-legal practice in which pensioners from the DPR and LPR, along with receiving pensions from the republics, traveled to Ukrainian territory and were registered there as “temporary migrants” and then they went back, actually living in the LDPR, but listed on Ukrainian papers as “migrants.” Thus, these people crossed the demarcation line every few months to receive their Ukrainian pension. Now Kyiv has decided to finally cut off pensioners from uncontrolled territories from pension payments.
