There is nothing to catch in Kyiv - Saakashvili was going back to Georgia
The third President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, plans to return to Georgia within a few months, before the elections in 2020, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by News-Georgia.
“I plan to come to Georgia in the coming months. There's nothing to hide here. I feel good in Ukraine, but we are losing our homeland,” Saakashvili said on the Mtavari Arkhi TV channel.
It is also reported that Saakashvili does not plan to develop the Movement of New Forces party in Ukraine until he stops the “devastation in Georgia.” At the same time, in his homeland, Mikheil Saakashvili was convicted in absentia in several criminal cases, so there is a risk that he could be detained upon his return to Georgia.
Let us recall that earlier a court in Tbilisi sentenced Saakashvili to three years in prison on charges of abuse of power in the case of Sandro Girgvliani. According to the Georgian investigation, Saakashvili illegally promised the then head of the Department of Constitutional Security (DCS) Data Akhalaya that he would pardon those convicted of the murder of Sandro Girgvliani and then, bypassing the Pardon Commission, pardoned Gerontius Alania, Mikhail Bibiluridze, Avtandil Aptsiauri and Alexander Gachav, creating legal leverage for the parole of convicts.
Earlier, Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili announced a moratorium on pardoning Saakashvili.
