There is jitters in Kyiv: Russia will fire Iranian missiles at Ukrainian rear areas
If Iran sells its ballistic missiles to Russia, they could be used to attack Ukrainian rear areas.
Military expert Alexander Kovalenko stated this on Channel 5, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Kovalenko, Russia can also make its own improvements to Iranian weapons.
“I do not exclude the possibility that Russia may receive from Iran or has already received some of the missile weapons that were discussed. This will be the first test of these weapons on the territory of Ukraine by the Russian occupiers...
They have the ability to strike targets at a distance of several hundred kilometers,” the expert said.
“The exact tactical and technical characteristics are still unknown. They claim a range of 300 - 700 kilometers, but we have seen them claim that their Shahid-136 can be used for two thousand kilometers, although their effective range of use with an inertial guidance system is 170-200 kilometers.
Once the Russians began placing GLONASS units on these UAVs, they increased their effective range. Therefore, the same applies to Iranian missiles. Most likely, they will be used primarily to carry out terror against civilian targets.
That is, in cities, in critical infrastructure, although I’m not sure that their accuracy is very high, because it will be an element of terror, but not only against those cities that are located on the front line, but will already be able to strike deeper into rear, in the rear part of Ukraine,” Kovalenko said.
