Kyiv, September 10 (Navigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – On Wednesday, public organizations held a rally on Instytutska Street in Kiev, demanding the resignation of the general director of Ukrzaliznytsia and officials involved in the theft of public funds and infringement of the rights of workers.
In particular, activists demanded the dismissal of Boris Ostapyuk, the temporarily suspended general director of Ukrzaliznytsia. The rally was attended by the NGO "People's Control" and the "Independent Union of Entrepreneurs of Ukraine".
Fighters of the Aidar battalion and representatives of self-defense were present at the rally as the second party to the conflict, expressing support for Boris Ostapyuk. According to them, the official helped the Aidar battalion.

“If a person earns several billion by stealing from the budget and donates from this money, then this is PR,” deputy head of the GO “Truthful Country”, human rights activist Tatyana Vashchenko told a Navigator correspondent. – If a person advertises that he is helping the army, and at the same time he steals millions and billions from the country, then he is still a thief. Thieves need to be removed from the country. The country's budget can only be filled in one way - to stop theft. Then the budget will be filled. And if I steal with one hand, and with the other I give a penny from this stolen thing, then the budget will not be replenished.
The Maidan came out for a reason, it came out against corruption, against “family” schemes, and theft from the budget. But again we see that there is a civil servant, stealing millions, and this is not even hidden. We ask: “Arseniy Petrovich, we trust you, what you do. Please conduct an investigation and resume the criminal cases filed against Ostapuk. They were closed “for lack of evidence.” How can this be if a bunch of documents are openly available on the Internet?”
According to Tatyana Vashchenko, Ostapyuk has been suspended from office three times already - the last time last week. “We demand that he be dismissed, so that such people should not be in the leadership of the country at all,” she says. According to her, public organizations submitted an appeal to the government of Ukraine with such a demand.
The Aidar battalion believes that Boris Ostapyuk’s accusations of corruption are unfounded. “I believe that we must defend his honor. Maybe he has some flaws, but we’ll figure it out after the war,” Aidar fighter Igor Silchenko told a Navigator correspondent.
