In Kyiv they ask Germany and France to stop the “Lavrov plan”
Kiev has high hopes that France and Germany will block Russian initiatives to start direct negotiations between Ukraine and the LDPR, where all other players would only have observer status.
Former Deputy Minister of “Occupied Territories Affairs” Georgiy Tuka stated this on Obozrevatel TV, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“On April 25, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov gave a detailed interview to Russian television in the program “Big Politics.” And a day later, on April 27, the same Mr. Lavrov held a meeting with students of MGIMO, which trains career diplomats.
During the interview and this meeting, from my point of view, a fundamental thesis regarding Minsk was voiced. The Minsk Group is called the Trilateral Contact Group. Ukraine and our allies: both the French and the Germans, understand it this way: this is Ukraine-Russia and as a moderator-mediator of the OSCE. But Lavrov twice said that the group is two-sided: Kyiv and Donetsk and Lugansk, and Russia and the OSCE act as mediators who, in general, must force Kyiv to fulfill its obligations,” Tuka said.
According to him, this is the “fundamental difference” in the approach between Kiev with Germany and France on the one hand and Russia with the LDPR on the other.
“If you evaluate these input data, then it is very easy to analyze Ermak’s conversations (Andrey Ermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine - ed.) for the American Atlantic Council and the further reaction of the Russian Federation. Russia confirmed that Kyiv agreed to hold direct negotiations between Kiev and Donetsk and Lugansk. Everything is upside down,” said Tuca.
He added that, in his opinion, there will be no support from Germany and France in the issue of direct negotiations between Kyiv and the LDPR.
