The Kyiv Police Communications Department reports this on its Facebook page.
“Two men noticed a suspicious ring in the sand, and when they dug it up, they saw an object that looked like a grenade,” the report says.
The police said that in the morning the duty station of the Shevchenko police department received a message from local residents that they had found an object similar to a grenade in the playground on Teligi Street.
“Upon arrival, experts seized an F-1 combat grenade with a fuse, which was sent for a separate study. Police officers also inspected the surrounding area,” the police added, adding that explosives experts were also at the scene.
Based on this fact, the investigative department of the Shevchenko police department began criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) of the Criminal Code.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment from three to seven years in prison.
“At the moment, the persons who left the dangerous object on the playground are being identified,” the metropolitan police noted.
