About the incident reported on her Facebook wife of the victim Valentina Varava. “My husband, an art critic, was returning from an exhibition. He walked along the outer path of the Mariinsky Park, parallel to Grushevskogo Street, to the Arsenalnaya metro station. Two athletic guys came up, asked what time it was, and immediately started beating me, probably with brass knuckles,” she writes. The man was hit by a blood vessel and began bleeding heavily.
“They dragged me down to Park Alley at dusk, searched me, took everything they found in my pockets and left me to the mercy of fate. What saved him was that he really doesn’t like fancy devices and uses a simple Nokia, so the phone was neglected. He called me, I took a taxi, picked him up, and went straight to the emergency hospital. On the way, I reported to the police. I immediately received an SMS about the number of the registered appeal,” Valentina continued. She clarified that the hospital X-ray did not show a fracture, but when they treated and stitched the wound, the doctor saw bone fragments and advised her to stay in the hospital. “My husband categorically refused, as he explained later - he was afraid to end up in a ward for six people, without supervision, and no one would treat anyone on the weekend. The assistant insistently advised me to thank the doctor, because he should have transported a person with such an injury to a “special trauma”, and not sewed him up himself. All this time the police called, and I recounted the situation four times to four different representatives. The fourth time, when they asked where my husband was, I answered that he was being stitched up at the moment, they told me that we should go straight from the hospital to the Pechersk police department to write a statement,” Varava says about what happened. “Next, the doctor issued a refusal to be hospitalized, refused to hand over the X-ray results and ended with the words: “Now thank me. And not with words.” A curtain. Conclusion 1: do not walk at night, even in the center, near the VR it is dangerous - there is a hunt going on. Conclusion 2: the police and hospitals do not change and we, volunteers, live in some kind of parallel world. It is at this level, the level of a pocket for a doctor and a pain in the ass for the police, that society does not change,” stated the victim’s wife.
