It is reported that from February 26, the educational process and scientific activities at Bogomolets University are completely stopped for an indefinite period. All premises of the university will be closed with the exception of the clinic premises where patients are treated.
“The strike was declared in connection with the unprecedented gross and illegal interference of the leadership of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in the independence and self-government of the A. A. Bogomolets National Medical University,” the statement says.
It is noted that the strike was declared by the strike committee, which included student representatives of the University Student Parliament, the student NGO “Student Confidence”, the student trade union committee, and student activists. At the same time, on the part of the labor collective of NMU named after A.A. Bogomolets deans and vice-rectors, trade union committee of the university.
“The Ministry of Health decided to bring the entire university to its knees by blocking the payment of scholarships to students and wages to the workforce, illegally taking away the right of bank signature from the legally elected management of the university,” the message says.
The strike committee demands that the president immediately intervene in the situation, and that the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada and the prime minister “immediately create a commission to investigate abuses by the leadership of the Ministry of Health” and “during such an investigation, remove Ulyana Suprun from her duties as Minister of Health and remove her deputies from their duties.” "
Suprun is required to cancel the order to remove the rector of the Bogomolets National Medical University Ekaterina Amosova and appoint an acting University Rector Mikhail Zakharash, as well as immediately ensure the holding of the integrated licensed exam “Step 1. Dentistry".
In turn, the Ministry of Health, after declaring an indefinite strike by the Bogomolets National Medical University, calls not to succumb to provocations and not to allow the educational process to be disrupted. This is stated in a statement from the department on its Facebook page.
“Concerned teachers and students of NMU are contacting representatives of the Ministry of Health with messages that the university management is forcing students and academic staff to begin the so-called “indefinite university-wide strike” on February 26. Deliberately false information is also being spread about the Ministry of Health blocking the payment of scholarships and salaries at NMU. We appeal to the students and teaching staff of the university not to succumb to the provocations and manipulations of the NMU leadership and not to disrupt the educational process,” the ministry notes.
