Ukraine has lost sovereignty in the Donbass and cannot return it by military means, and therefore the only way to resolve the crisis can be direct negotiations between Kyiv and the DPR and LPR.
Former Minister of Economy of Ukraine Viktor Suslov stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the economist, without compromises and concessions, Kyiv will not be able to regain the territory of Donbass.
“As for sovereignty, one must understand that Ukraine has already lost sovereignty over these territories and that Ukraine is not able to resolve this issue by military means. Therefore, we need to negotiate. And not only that, I will say more - this refusal to negotiate with those people who rule there in ORDLO is also a mistake. There must be direct and ongoing negotiations and compromises must be found. Without compromises, it is either impossible to return these territories to Ukraine, or at the cost of extremely large blood on both sides,” Suslov said.
