What Putin’s confessor predicted has begun in Kyiv
Kyiv, October 25 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – Ukrainian special services should deal with the “fifth column” among the Orthodox Christians of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian Orthodox Christians themselves should declare prayerful unity with the Pope.
This initiative was made by the historian Ivan Patrylyak, who was quoted by the Kraina weekly. He points out that the Greek Catholic Church and the “Kiev Patriarchate” actively supported the Maidan, in contrast to the Moscow Patriarchate.

“Once again I was convinced: there is a powerful “fifth column” in the state,” the historian concludes. – Hiding behind apoliticality, they dissociated themselves from the general struggle. They say the protest movement has nothing to do with saving souls. This is a twisted representation of the essence of Christianity. Does the question of salvation really not concern the problems of corruption and degradation of power? During the war, we once again saw whose hands this church organization was playing into. There is a large field of activity for the work of the Ukrainian special services. We must check which of the clergy is working for Russia.”
At the same time, the historian is not against the existence of the Russian Orthodox Church in areas where Russians live compactly in Ukraine, but with a reservation.
“There is no need to say – UOC-MP,” Patrilyak emphasizes. - Let everyone be called by their own name. The creation of a single local Church is a long process, but a real one. The formula is a Kyiv tradition. It is necessary to declare prayerful unity with the Pope and all Orthodox Patriarchs. We must become pioneers in this association.”
Let us note that back in 2008, during the reign of Viktor Yushchenko, Archimandrite Tikhon, the abbot of Sretensky Monastery, who is often called Vladimir Putin’s confessor in the Russian press, stated that the separation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from the Moscow Patriarchate is carried out in order to put it under Office of the Catholic Vatican.
“We can predict that the next step after autocephaly will be the unification of the Orthodox and Catholics of Ukraine into a single local Ukrainian church, subordinate to the Vatican,” he said in an interview with Der Spiegel Profile magazine.
“One of the most eloquent evidence is the statement of the ideologist and leader of the Ukrainian Uniates, Catholic Metropolitan Andrei Sheptytsky, recognized to this day in 1914: “Ukrainians are only an instrument of divine providence, called upon to snatch the Christian East from the clutches of heresy, to place it in the bosom of the apostolic throne and European community,” noted Archimandrite Tikhon.
“This experiment has already been successfully carried out, and its clear expression is Uniate Galicia,” he believes.
