In Kyiv they hope to hold out for several weeks in the event of a Russian offensive
In Ukraine, they hope to withstand psychological pressure on the military and society so as not to surrender to Russia “even before the battle begins.”
This opinion was expressed by Vladimir Gorbach, a politician at the Institute for Euro-Atlantic Cooperation, in an interview with Kraina magazine.
According to him, Russia may try to break through a land corridor to Crimea.
“There is a shortage of fresh water in Crimea. The Russians need to do something. If it is not possible to bring to power in Ukraine those who will make concessions and unblock the canal from the Dnieper, they may decide to take it by force. Armed formations have been stationed on the border for a long time. This is a way to exert constant psychological pressure on the military and Ukrainian society. We need to withstand it, not give in to panic and not give up even before the start of the battle,” the expert said.
“Will we survive an open offensive?” the publication asked.
“Russia will suffer great losses. The number of victims is always greater for the one who advances. The Ukrainian military is counting on the fact that it will be so critical that the Russians will not go on the offensive. If this happens, we will be able to fight on our own for several weeks,” Gorbach hopes.
