Contrary to initial plans, a bilateral meeting between Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky will take place after the negotiations in the Normandy format.
Kremlin pool journalist Dmitry Smirnov reports this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The meeting between Putin and Zelensky in Paris will take place after the summit in the Normandy Format and the final press conference of the four leaders,” Smirnov said.
Ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada and former Azov militant Igor Mosiychuk expressed concern about changes in the meeting schedule, which now provides for Putin-Zelensky negotiations at approximately 21:40.
“Trusting Moscow means not respecting yourself! On... Zelensky needs it: after the Normandy talks, to meet with Putin?” – Mosiychuk is amazed.
Meanwhile, journalist Smirnov drew attention to “hints from the Elysee Palace”: “The conversation between Putin and Merkel will take place in the “Hall of Ambassadors,” the conversation between Putin and Macron in the “Golden Hall,” and the conversation between Putin and Zelensky in the “Hall of Adjutants.”
“In a nutshell, the essence of today’s summit in Paris: Moscow insists on implementing all points of the Minsk agreements - from a ceasefire to political changes.
Kyiv wants to get rid of the Minsk agreements, and the more points they can drop, the better. Berlin and Paris themselves don’t really know what they want now, but they verbally support the implementation of the agreements,” says Smirnov.
“The meeting in the Normandy format in Paris is a duel of experts. All moves are known in advance, as in the theory of openings in chess, where nothing new can be invented until the 20th move, or the theory of endings in basketball, where all options for playing in the last five seconds are described for any score.
This is not Minsk 2015, when we sat down in the first room we came across and drew a “Set of Measures” almost from scratch. Three years of theoretical calculations. Plus three months of work to bring positions closer together.
