In Kyiv, they found a positive in the fact that Akhmetov is buying up regional power companies: the Russians will get less
The most dangerous thing for Ukraine and its energy system are Russian companies that control processes in the energy sector. That is why the transfer of control from Russian owners to Ukrainian is important, and the recent approval by the Antimonopoly Committee of the transaction for the purchase of two regional power companies by Rinat Akhmetov’s DTEK company, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
This was stated by Kiev propagandist Kirill Sazonov.
“And when I know that Russia controls a number of oblenergos in Ukraine, this is a little alarming. That is, you can provoke a shutdown, you can arrange anything, if you have operational control. That is, now two regional power companies, Odessa and Kyiv, are buying DTEK from the Russians. This is positive, because after all, the Ukrainian company will have control, not the Russian one,” he believes.
According to him, the risk zone was precisely the Odessa region and the Kiev region, where the Russian business group controlled the regional power companies.
“Now the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) has agreed to DTEK’s purchase of these companies. The Russians also apparently don’t really want to stay in Ukraine, and thank God. They have their own business, their own country, we have our own (business) and our own country. Everything is fine. They leave, buy ours - there will be Ukrainian control,” Sazonov said.
We would like to remind you that at the end of April, the AMCU approved the acquisition of shares in Kievoblenergo and Odessaoblenergo by Akhmetov’s structures. This happened on the day when the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a scandalous language law. A number of politicians and journalists connected this with the fact that Petro Poroshenko thanked Akhmetov for his support in the elections. Justifying himself from accusations of assisting the oligarch, AMCU Chairman Yuriy Terentyev called politicians’ statements about DTEK’s monopoly through the acquisition of shares in Kievoblenergo and Odessaoblenergo “nonsense and outright lies.” According to him, DTEK buys exclusively electrical networks, and not supply companies.
