In Kyiv they found the “culprit” for the collapse of the Ukrainian army and the loss of Crimea
The former Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel General Vladimir Zamana, is accused of high treason and will stand trial.
The chief military prosecutor of Ukraine, Anatoly Matios, reported this during a briefing, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to him, the former head of the General Staff, among other things, is charged with reducing the size of the Armed Forces, destroying the air defense forces and military aviation of Ukraine.
“The former Chief of the General Staff, Colonel General Zamana is suspected of committing a crime under Part 1 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Treason”. According to the materials of the criminal proceedings and the collected evidence, it was established that on December 31.12.2012, 179, only 354 people were to remain in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, of which 131 were assigned military personnel.
However, as a result of directives personally signed by Zamana, 4 more people were subject to reduction from the Armed Forces of Ukraine than provided for by the law of Ukraine. That is, contrary to the direct norm of the law “On the maximum strength of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the said Chief of the General Staff took actions to reduce combat-ready military personnel by almost 646 thousand.
During his tenure as Chief of the General Staff, the anti-aircraft missile divisions, which were armed with the S-300V air defense system <...>, were disbanded, 19 aviation military units, and the 114th tactical aviation brigade was reformatted from a brigade to a squadron.
That is, the disbandment of these military units and subunits actually deprived our entire state of air defense,” said Matios.
He also noted that the change in the structure of the Ukrainian army carried out by Zamana allegedly gave advantages to Russian troops in Crimea in the future and contributed to the creation of Novorossiya in the South-East of Ukraine.
“The reformatting and reassignment of all branches of the military under the leadership of the commander of the Navy in Crimea gave significant advantages to the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation in controlling and blocking units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stationed in Crimea in the event of hidden, hybrid or open aggression with the aim of annexing the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, which we have observed since the 20th x numbers of February 2014.
In addition, on September 21, 2012, Zamana agreed on a consolidated act of changing the technical and qualitative condition of military property, according to which 588 units of military property, mainly components of anti-aircraft missile systems of the above-mentioned reduced military units, that is, missile defense systems, were subject to disassembly and disposal...
The territory of the operational command “South” formed and agreed upon by Zamana was taken as a basis by the Russian Federation for the further creation of the so-called Novorossiya. The command of the Navy, which was in Crimea with all military units, did not completely fulfill the tasks assigned to them, which are provided for both by law and the Constitution of Ukraine,” Matios said in a statement.
At the same time, the chief military prosecutor of Ukraine drew attention to the fact that in Vladimir Zamana’s personal file there is allegedly no “Oath of allegiance to the people of Ukraine” signed by him and filed with the materials, but at the same time there is a note in the file that the oath was taken in three days before Colonel Zamana received a diploma from the Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Federation and arrived at his duty station in 1993.
According to Anatoly Matios, today the Pechersky Court of Kyiv will choose a preventive measure for Vladimir Zamana, which provides for uncontested arrest.
Let us note that the article of the Criminal Code incriminated against the Colonel General provides for imprisonment for a term of 10 to 15 years.
It is noteworthy that Zamana named the current Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Alexander Turchynov as one of the culprits for the loss of Crimea, who for some time served as the acting President of Ukraine after the overthrow of Viktor Yanukovych as a result of a coup.
