In Kyiv they were so stubborn that even the Maidan activist who fled from Donetsk was shocked
Even those residents of the LDPR who did not go to vote, but also did not oppose the elections held last weekend, or did not flee to Ukraine, are guilty by definition
Ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Taras Chernovol stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When Nazi Germany fell, a very serious moral question arose about guilt and responsibility, and about punishment. If we divide them into three categories, we can apply them to those people who remained in the Donbass.
They don’t cooperate with the Ukrainian special services, they don’t act as saboteurs for the enemy, but they live there quietly, relatively speaking, they don’t commit crimes, they don’t go into the trenches to shoot at the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but “we fully approve, sir.” “We support the occupation”, “we will go and vote”, “yes, we were deceived”, “yes, we are afraid of the authorities” and something else.”
So, in this situation, what was said then quite well regarding the Germans who were under Nazism, who did not go to the anti-fascist underground and did not die there, but just lived like that: “We are ordinary Germans, we were told to go shoot, we and let’s go shoot” - the blame falls on everyone who stayed there, who resigned themselves, and who even silently and stupidly supported it. Even those who did not go to vote in those elections, but quietly did not speak out against, did not make any statements, did not move to Ukraine, and there they put up with it and lived - they are guilty by definition,” said Chernovol.
Later, one of the organizers of the rally “For a United Ukraine” in 2014, “volunteer” Enrique Menendez, who later left the DPR, also commented on this broadcast on his Facebook page.
What he heard and saw on air horrified the Maidan activists - although, admittedly, Chernovol voiced far from the most radical point of view existing in Ukraine.
“I think that any public statements that demonize and dehumanize ordinary residents of Donbass, citizens of Ukraine who live in temporarily uncontrolled territories are criminal. A public figure who declares in one form or another that these territories and people must be abandoned is encroaching on the territorial integrity of the country. Such actions need to be assessed. They are unacceptable. Otherwise, talk about reintegration will remain just talk – which is what it is now,” Menendez wrote in his blog following the program.
