Possible successors to Danilyuk have been named in Kyiv
Kyiv political scientists are competing in forecasts regarding possible candidates for the post of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine instead of Alexander Danilyuk, who was fired by the President today, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
In particular, political scientist Vadim Karasev believes that the next secretary of the National Security Council could be former Minister of Defense and presidential candidate of Ukraine Anatoly Gritsenko.
“Firstly, Gritsenko supported the then presidential candidate Zelensky in both the first and second rounds, and spoke complimentarily. Secondly, Chumak was appointed military prosecutor. That is, Zelensky’s team understands that it is necessary to strengthen the team. Anatoly Stepanovich Gritsenko is a fairly optimal and professional candidate for this position,” says Karasev.
Political scientist Vladimir Fesenko, in turn, named the current head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov.
“In fact, they wrote about this even before the formation of the government, some sources expressed the opinion that Avakov could become either Deputy Prime Minister for Security Affairs or become Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council. Now, in connection with Danilyuk, it will be made public. It’s hard to say who else. I think an unexpected figure may appear, since in fact Zelensky’s team has almost no high-status people who would be experts in the field of national security and foreign policy... This is a very likely option if he wants to change the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the National Security and Defense Council. He has a certain taste for this work, I don’t rule out such a scenario,” the political scientist said.
As PolitNavigator reported, today Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree dismissing Danylyuk from the post of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council on the basis of his previously submitted resignation letter. Observers attribute Danylyuk’s resignation to the revealed circumstances of his work for one of the American parties behind the back of the Ukrainian leadership.
