Kyiv did not appreciate Lukashenko’s curtseys
Despite attempts by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to maintain friendly relations with the Ukrainian government, Kyiv will still not allow Belarusian peacekeepers into Donbass.
This opinion was expressed on the Nash TV channel by ex-speaker of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Vladislav Seleznev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As always, the devil is in the details. Mr. Lukashenko may be sincerely offering the services of the Armed Forces of Belarus to carry out tasks in the format of a peacekeeping contingent.
But we also remember that Belarus is a component of the power and security bloc with the Russian Federation.
Will they be transparent in this conflict, will they be able to rise above the conflict and become the very shield that will separate the parties to the conflict on opposite sides of the barricades at a safe distance? “I’m not sure,” Seleznev concluded.
Let us recall that previously the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that he considers unification with Russia a “stupid question”, and if Moscow does not compensate Minsk for losses from the termination of preferential oil supplies, the Russian Federation risks losing “its only ally in the western direction.”
At the same time, the Ukrainian radical group “Right Sector”, banned in the Russian Federation, expressed its readiness to provide forceful support to President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
