Kiev is not against making Donbass “big Transnistria”
Ukraine had to set its own conditions under which it was ready to accept the Donbass republics back into its fold.
Kiev political scientist Yuri Romanenko stated this on his Internet blog, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It was necessary to say that for us such and such conditions of return are unacceptable. We will not return them in this format, because it is fraught for us, we will not recognize them, let them live as they want. We are concentrating on our reforms, on developing infrastructure in our part of Donbass, so it is better to stop the conflict, establish some kind of demarcation zone and such a big Transnistria there, which lives at the expense of the Russian budget, at some of its own expense - it doesn’t matter.
The main thing is that for us this is a condition for ending the conflict. I don't think the Russians would not agree to such conditions. Then we can return the economic exchange as between Moldova and the PMR, and until better times - a frozen conflict, long-lasting. And everything is in the zone of balance between the DPRK and South Korea. This would be a way out,” Romanenko said.
