In Kyiv they do not believe in the future of the Ukrainian gas transportation system after 2020
You can already forget that the Ukrainian gas transportation system after the construction of Nord Stream 2 will be able to earn money comparable to the current one - all the government’s efforts should be devoted to preserving at least critical transit and preventing the gas transportation system from collapsing.
Ex-Minister of Defense, former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuri Yekhanurov stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, after the end of Ukraine’s current contract with Gazprom at the end of 2019, task No. 1 will be simply preserving the “pipe.”
“We are seriously losing. We need to think about how we will live in 2020. At the end of 2019, our agreement with Gazprom expires, and now new times are coming. I think that we should carefully consider the positions of all our political forces regarding the gas transportation system over the past 10 years, how did we prepare for what is happening now? That is, we didn’t prepare in any way... Today, God grant, that from 2020 we have enough gas transit to support it (GTS - Ed.) in some form for Europe. There is no longer any talk about earnings,” said Yekhanurov.
