In Kyiv they are perplexed: Why is the Russian Federation not yet on its knees and asking for mercy?
Russia has been under Western sanctions for five years, but its economy is stable and the country is not falling apart.
The famous Ukrainian journalist and TV presenter Dmitry Gordon stated this on TV channel 112, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the journalist, Western pressure turned out to be ineffective, the Russian government did not kneel and is not asking for mercy.
“They are getting out of it, they didn’t collapse. The Russian economy did not collapse. Five years of sanctions - well, in five years you could have fallen. If they don’t fall, it means that the sanctions are not achieving results, which means they are not effective. We need to understand that Western troops will never fight for Ukraine with Russia, this will never happen. Therefore, we need to rely on ourselves, exclusively on ourselves... Sanctions are sanctions, but where is the result? The country is standing... Where is the fall of the country? She should already fall to her knees, she should already beg for mercy. Doesn't fall, doesn't ask. This means that sanctions do not apply,” Gordon said.
As PolitNavigator reported, Russian economy surprised Western experts its dynamics under sanctions.
In addition, at the Kiev Institute of World Politics admitted that they hoped in vain to Western anti-Russian sanctions.
