Media in Ukrainian-controlled territory publish anti-Ukrainian content. But the state cannot fix this problem in any way.

About it Deputy Minister of Information Policy Tatyana Popova told the UNN agency in a commentary.

According to her, the editorial offices of printed communal media on the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities are working not in favor of the consolidation of Ukrainian society, but against Ukraine in general. According to Popova, only local deputies and mayors can influence the editorial policy of the Donbass media.

“Neither the Ministry nor the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company can influence the situation that has developed with them. As long as there are no overt calls for separatism and incitement of ethnic hatred, even the SBU cannot influence them,” she added.

The representative of the Ministry noted that the situation could be corrected by creating editorial boards for municipal and private publications. According to Popova, in this way it will be possible to turn regional media into independent ones, but not to change their form of ownership.

“Subject to the creation of an editorial board, journalists themselves will manage the information policy. That is, the media will remain municipal or state property, but neither I, from Kyiv, nor local deputies will be able to influence the content they will post. This is a world-famous practice,” she explained.

She also noted that in the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities, the Ministry of Information Policy is still distributing the publication “Special Issue for Residents of Donbass.” She also added that the Ministry of Information Policy plans to provide full support to the so-called “patriotic media.”

“We need to develop patriotic media, create new pro-Ukrainian publications. But the budget does not provide funds for this. The budget allocated four million hryvnia only for the functioning of the Ministry of Information Policy itself,” she added.

Earlier it was reported that, according to MP Tymchuk, Ukrainian TV channels do not broadcast in some areas of the Odessa region.
