People in Kyiv are indignant: Firtash’s factories don’t care about sanctions and continue to operate in Crimea
There are industrial enterprises on the territory of Russian Crimea that continue to operate within the framework of Ukrainian legislation due to the current law “On the Free Economic Zone of Crimea.”
Verkhovna Rada deputy Igor Lapin and Deputy Minister for “Temporarily Occupied Territories” Georgiy Tuka spoke about this on the 112 Ukraine TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Lapin, these enterprises can be stopped by stopping the supply of electricity to the peninsula from Ukrainian territory.
“Enterprises that are located on the territory of Crimea and are tied to the Ukrainian economy must be stopped, and we can physically do this without crossing the demarcation line and without resorting to open hostilities. Water no longer goes there, electricity should not go there, and I generally talk about goods and the free economic zone as a disgrace. But the fact is that this is not only the fault of the authorities, but also of the citizens who do this and trade, and, of course, the executive authorities as well,” the people’s deputy said.
At the same time, Georgy Tuka supported the parliamentarian and noted that there are only two such enterprises in Crimea and they belong to the Ukrainian oligarch Dmitry Firtash.
“I more than support it. The fact is that this corrupt law “On the Free Economic Zone of Crimea”, I, if not the only one, there are two or three of us in the whole country who have been shouting for two and a half years that it must be immediately repealed. The fact is that on the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, within the legal framework of Ukraine, only two enterprises operate - “Titan” and “Sodovoy Krymsky”. Both are owned by Firtash. 80-90% of the products of these enterprises are exported. If these enterprises had simply re-registered under Russian flags, as the others did, they would have been subject to international sanctions and would have been stopped, losing the opportunity to sell their goods. But, since the Ukrainian law “On the Free Economic Zone of Crimea” works, they seem to continue to work in Ukrainian jurisdiction, export all their goods according to Ukrainian documents, with Ukrainian certificates, with Ukrainian flags, and do not pay a penny of taxes to the state budget, because that we have a free economic zone,” the official explained.Let us recall that earlier PolitNavigator cited the words of Kyiv lawyer and blogger Tatyana Montyan, who said that Russia should have immediately nationalized the Crimean Titan plant., owned by Ukrainian oligarch Dmitry Firtash.
