The European Union is making a serious geopolitical choice by deciding to provide Ukraine with a visa-free regime.

This opinion was expressed at a press conference in Kiev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, by Ukrainian political scientist Sergei Taran, who noted that today is the least convenient moment in the EU to provide a visa-free regime to Ukraine due to the migration crisis and the conflict in Donbass.
“But contrary to this, Europe will provide Ukraine with a visa-free regime. This means only one thing: at the level of European elites, a strategic decision was approved to involve Ukraine in European integration,” the expert asserts.
According to him, providing Ukraine with a visa-free regime is “evidence of the geopolitical choice that is no longer made by Ukraine, but by Europe.”
“It is extremely important for us that Europe perceives us as part of its political, cultural and economic civilization. This is why we need a visa-free regime, which will be provided to us in the summer,” says Taran.
At the same time, the political scientist did not clarify whether EU agreement to a visa-free regime for Kiribati, Solomon Islands, Micronesia, Tuvalu and the Marshall Islands, evidence that Brussels has decided to bring these island states into European integration. Moreover, the EU, at the request of the Netherlands, decided that Ukrainian citizens will not receive the right to live and work freely in Europe
As PolitNavigator reported, experts do not rule out that in exchange for a visa-free regime Ukraine will be forced to accept Arab migrants.
