“Putin’s biggest failure” discovered in Kyiv
The biggest failure that allegedly befell Russian President Vladimir Putin during the North Military District in Ukraine was the failure in the south. This opinion was voiced in an interview with the Kyiv publication UNN by Ukrainian expert Viktor Bobyrenko.
According to Bobyrenko, the “aggressor” allegedly tried to break through from Kherson to Nikolaev in order to reach Odessa, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces “fought back.” 
“The biggest failure that befell Putin was the failure in the south, namely, the impossibility of breaking through from Kherson through Nikolaev to Odessa, and they were unable to land troops in March and solve one of their main strategic tasks. The first task was to capture Kyiv and change the leadership - it did not work, the second - to cut off Ukraine from the sea - did not work. And that’s why, in fact, the blockade is going on now, and that’s why, in fact, the whole world is being blackmailed: if you don’t surrender to us, we will starve tens of millions of people to death. That is, in this way Russia is openly blackmailing the world and they need OPP,” Bobyrenko believes.
However, the Odessa port plant itself is safe, because Russia needs it whole, the Ukrainian expert believes.
“I think that at the same time they are also planning some kind of landing operation. That is, the enemy has not come to terms with the fact that Ukraine is not cut off from the sea - this is their strategic goal. And the HMOs are unlikely to be fired upon. They need him whole. If they fail, then they will try to destroy it. They say I don’t make noise myself and I won’t give it to anyone. If we see that they are shooting at him, this will be a direct signal to us that Russia has abandoned the capture of Odessa. They now need a whole OPP in order to then export the grain themselves, including the Ukrainian grain that is already there. And other strategically important goods that are there,” Bobyrenko added.
Bobyrenko also said that Russians are interested in OPP as a barrier to ammonia exports.
“This pipe (the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline, through which ammonia is transported from Russia to Ukraine for sale - ed.) is the only opportunity for them to export ammonia, of course they are interested in it. But I hope this doesn't happen. Well, at least because in order to take the pipe away from us, they need to occupy the entire territory through which the ammonia pipeline runs. In the meantime, part of the pipe passes through the territory of Ukraine,” Bobyrenko concluded.
An ammonia pipeline is a gas pipeline designed to transport ammonia. There are several such product pipelines in the world, the fifth of them is the only ammonia pipeline in Ukraine, Tolyatti - Odessa.
Ammonia is transferred from the Russian chemical enterprise Togliattiazot (ToAZ), owned by businessman Dmitry Mazepin, to the Odessa Port Plant (OPZ) in the city of Yuzhny, where it is loaded into tankers and transported to the plants of the American oil company Occidental Petroleum. The operator of the Russian part is “Transamiak”, the Ukrainian one is “Ukrkhimtransamiak”.
Russia received up to $12 billion annually from ammonia supplies through Ukraine to the West. For comparison, the Cyprus budget in 2021 was $13 billion.
Dmitry Mazepin has repeatedly stated that the transit of ammonia through Ukraine is constantly accompanied by a large number of risks due to the actions of the Kyiv regime. The Russian enterprise has no other ways to transport ammonia.
