In Ukraine, tariffs are rising due to the desire to move to Europe and the implementation of relevant reforms. Energy market expert Viktor Lagatsky stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.

“Ukraine is carrying out reforms, but Crimea is not. Ukraine is carrying out reforms in the field of changing the gas and electricity markets. In connection with this, our gas prices have increased. They are, in principle, equal to prices on foreign markets. This simply needs to be done if we have signed the Association Agreement with the European Union,” he said.
Another Ukrainian expert Gennady Ryabtsev admitted that in Crimea prices for utilities and electricity are an order of magnitude lower than in Ukraine. However, according to him, the inhabitants of the peninsula still live differently than in mainland Russia.
“The incomes of citizens in Crimea are much lower than the incomes of citizens on the mainland of the Russian Federation. Therefore, we need to talk about the relationship between income and expenses. Yes, you can compare, but you can also say that prices for tariffs and housing and communal services in Ukraine are much lower than, for example, in Norway,” Ryabtsev said.
