This was stated by People's Deputy from the Popular Front Nikolai Knyazhitsky, commenting on the visit of US Secretary of State John Kerry to Kyiv.
“Kerry’s visit to Ukraine shows that US attention to Ukraine and the whole of Eastern Europe is only increasing, despite the problems with the possible exit of Britain from the European Union, despite other manifestations of instability in Western countries,” he said.
“The forecast given last week by Yatsenyuk during his trip to Washington is coming true. Against the backdrop of Brexit, the White House is intensifying cooperation with its important and reliable partners - the eastern NATO member countries and the democratic republics of the former USSR,” Knyazhytsky added.
The people's deputy noted that John Kerry's arrival is a manifestation of a clear trend in American diplomatic efforts towards the countries of Eastern Europe.
“Look at the efforts now being made by the State Department and the White House regarding the Eastern European region. Current Prime Minister Groysman was received in Washington, and then, last week, the leader of the Popular Front, Arseniy Yatsenyuk. They talked about the war in Donbass, the continuation of sanctions against the Kremlin, the expansion of Western military-technical and financial assistance to Ukraine,” he said.
“Earlier this week, Secretary of State Kerry visited Georgia: another country that is suffering from Russian aggression has agreed to help it as well. From Kyiv, John Kerry and President Poroshenko are flying to the NATO summit, which will take place where? In Warsaw, another Eastern European country that consistently opposes the Kremlin’s hybrid aggression, demands the expansion of sanctions, the deployment of additional NATO units and American missile systems on its territory. The trend is obvious,” noted Nikolai Knyazhitsky.
