A turning point in the ATO was announced in Kyiv: the zone of control of the militias in the Donbass has shrunk by half
Moscow - Kyiv, July 29 (Navigator, Mikhail Stamm) - In Kyiv they believe that in recent days there has been a turning point in the anti-terrorist operation in Donbass. “Terrorist groups have been localized and surrounded. The perimeter of the zones they control in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions has decreased by half. During the anti-terrorist operation, as the Minister of Defense reported, more than 60 settlements were liberated from terrorists,” military expert Sergei Zgurets told NG.

Yesterday, the Chief of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Viktor Muzhenko, reported to the President that the Ukrainian military took Saur-Mogila, a strategic height on the border of the Ukrainian Luhansk, Donetsk and Russian Rostov regions.
At the same time, it became known that the forces participating in the anti-terrorist operation entered Debaltsevo, Shakhtersk, Torez, Lutugino and entrenched themselves on the outskirts of Gorlovka. During the day, battles continued for Pervomaisk, Snezhnoye, and Stakhanov along the line that previously provided communication between the DPR and LPR. Closing the ring around Donetsk-Gorlovka, Ukrainian forces continued their push into the Lugansk region. “The fighting continues in the area of Uspenka and Roskoshnoye. An offensive is also being carried out on Lugansk from the northern direction. With Lugansk, we may experience problems for a long time, since Izvarino and part of the adjacent border have not been closed, which makes it possible for terrorists to constantly receive reinforcements from the Russian Federation,” the Information Resistance group reported.
Sergei Zgurets told NG that the Ukrainian military intends to narrow the encirclement in order to complete the military operation. He admitted that it is impossible to fight in Lugansk and Donetsk, as in the steppe regions. “Unlike terrorists, the Ukrainian military does not use civilians as human shields. And they must take into account the specifics of the “war in the city.” To conduct an anti-terrorist operation in such conditions, high-precision weapons and the most modern reconnaissance systems are required,” the expert noted.
They can be obtained from the United States, but this takes time, Zgurets believes.
In this context, Kiev drew attention to the message transmitted by Interfax-Ukraine that Russia had completed the formation of peacekeeping units of the Eastern Military District. The head of the Ukrainian Situation Modeling Agency, Vitaly Bala, noted that the participants in the anti-terrorist operation have made a breakthrough towards liberating the east of Ukraine from those who are called terrorists in Kyiv. “But we see that Russia is becoming more active. You have to be prepared for anything,” he says.
