In Kyiv, they appreciated Yatsenyuk’s joke: He called for the abandonment of gas in favor of electricity and began rolling blackouts
Kyiv, December 09 (Navigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) - Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk has an unusual sense of humor: at first he promised to abandon Russian gas, calling on citizens to replace fuel with electricity, and then rolling blackouts began in the country.
Valentin Zemlyansky, director of energy programs at the Center for World Economy and International Relations of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, drew attention to this feature of the policy of the head of the Cabinet of Ministers.

“I will approach the situation as an ordinary citizen: I was promised gas at 268 and not a cent more, I was told that no electricity would be imported from Russia, I was offered to switch to electric boilers and even compensate the interest rate on loans, and after three months we have rolling blackouts began,” the expert said at the round table.
“They say that there is supposedly a gas and fuel oil lobby that is fighting with the coal lobby to prevent the supply of coal. They also say that there is supposedly a Russian coal lobby that is fighting with the foreign coal lobby. Guys, are you crazy? We have five days of coal left, and you are talking about lobby wars. There's nowhere to fight. In five days, if there is no flow from Russia, we will get a blockade. What wars? What are you about?" – Zemlyansky was amazed.
“Look at the volumes of gas. We entered the heating season with a volume of 16,5 billion cubic meters. Today – 13,3 billion cubic meters. We “eat” gas at a rate of 3,5 billion cubic meters. per month. And it was not the coldest time yet. If there is not enough coal for thermal power plants, we will “eat” gas even faster. Maximum lift – 220 million cubic meters. per day. This means that we will enter the new year with almost half-empty storage facilities,” the analyst warns.
