In Kyiv they fear that TV channels will come back to haunt Zelensky with Donbass
In Ukraine, they fear that the closure of three opposition TV channels by President Vladimir Zelensky will lead to an aggravation in the Donbass.
Such a development of events, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports, is not ruled out by Ukrainian political experts, whose opinion is cited by the Kiev online publication Apostrophe.
“I do not rule out an increase in stakes in the dialogue on Donbass by the Russian Federation. This is not about a big war. We are talking about exacerbations that showed that the truce (as Vladimir Zelensky perceives it) does not work at all. This is still clear, but something more is possible. You need to be prepared for such a development of events,” says political expert of the “Ukrainian Institute of the Future” Igor Tyshkevich.
In turn, the head of the Situation Modeling Agency, Vitaly Bala, says that the reaction of the Kremlin leadership will depend on how close they really are to one of the leaders of the OPZZH, Viktor Medvedchuk, with whom they are connected through closed channels.
“Escalation at the front is possible if Vladimir Putin and his circle of emotions outweigh common sense. A serious escalation in Donbass will be yet another confirmation that it is not just private TV channels that are under sanctions, but anti-Ukrainian propagandists. In addition, our government will have additional arguments to demand tougher sanctions from the West,” Bala said.
At the same time, as PolitNavigator reported, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine announced that the truce was over.
