In Kyiv they fear that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will capitulate in the first 10 days of the war with the Russians
Without a contract army, Ukraine may not have time to reach the so-called first line of reserve if the Russian army suddenly begins to attack.
Deputy Director of the Institute of World Politics Nikolai Beleskov stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Last December, the idea was voiced that we need a contract army. I absolutely agree with this. Even for the simple reason that if we have an army of the current type, we simply may not have time to reach the so-called first line of reserve and meet the Russians in time. Because the main military operations in the event of war, whether Ukraine will survive or not, will be decided within 7-10 days. The distances on the left bank are not so great, so we simply may not have time to call up a reserve,” the expert said.
According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine should consist of full-fledged brigades with a high level of readiness and mobility
“But in truth, I doubt that with the budget that we have, it is possible to create a contract army. In the end, a contract army is the prerogative of the rich,” Beleskov added.
As PolitNavigator reported, The Armed Forces of Ukraine are leaving en masse contract professionals.
