In Kyiv they fear that the West will force negotiations with the LDPR recognized by Moscow
If Russia recognizes the independence of the DPR and LPR, and Ukraine withdraws from the Minsk Agreement because of this, its current “Western allies” will force it to sit down at the negotiating table directly with the leaders of the Donbass republics.
Political scientist Igor Tyshkevich, who fled from Belarus, said this on the Internet channel of the former adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Alexei Arestovich, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If we declare that Minsk is dead, if Putin, let’s say, even agrees with this, the question arises: okay, what is the new format? Because the conflict, point number one, is a border issue, in this case it flares up, and the same Germany and France immediately say: “Guys, what is the alternative format?” And again they are trying to seat us at the negotiating table with this information. Only without Minsk, as they say, directly.
And we begin to play the same game, only from the very beginning and in worse conditions, because when “Minsk” began, it was considered good manners for Ukraine to either promise some kind of help, even if it was in the form of a loan and so on, or give a little to maintain your pants. But in this case, no, in this case there will be compulsion to dialogue. From the outside, first of all, those whom we recently called, out of naivety, allies,” Tyshkevich said.
Arestovich agreed with him:
“The cancellation of Minsk carries very serious risks, the main one of which is that our dear partners will say: “Well, these are practically independent countries, talk to them.” By the way, a military round is not excluded, because usually military results are consolidated politically in a new way.”
