Kiev fears a parade of sovereignties across the country
Donbass will supposedly be hated by the whole country if the region suddenly receives a special status provided for by the obligations assumed by Ukraine in Minsk.
Sergei Garmash, a propagandist who fled Donetsk and editor-in-chief of the Ukrainian website OstroV, stated this in an interview with Kraina magazine, answering the question of how Donbass autonomy threatens Ukraine.
“People will have a feeling of total injustice. Thousands of our soldiers did not die so that those who took up arms against their country could escape punishment. And they want to provide them with some political benefits. The feeling of injustice will force Ukrainians to protest. If Donbass receives special political status on Russian terms, the whole country will hate it. The autonomy of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions could provoke a parade of sovereignties in other regions. We’ll get a real civil war,” said the propagandist.
According to him, “ending the conflict on Russia’s terms is destabilization, loss of sovereignty and a threat to the real existence of the country.”
