In Kyiv they are afraid of the secret part of the Paris summit
At the upcoming Normandy Four summit, France and Germany will not side with Ukraine.
Kiev political scientist Vitaly Bala told the Kyiv online publication Apostrophe about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The governments of France and Germany will, at best, take a restrained position. Their attitude towards the interests of Kyiv may even be neutral-negative, since French and German big business puts pressure on their governments. They are losing money due to sanctions against Russia. Emmanuel Macron and Angela Merkel are committed to a specific result. By and large, they don’t care whether progress in Donbass will be achieved at the expense of Ukraine or not. I do not exclude that part of the agreements reached in Paris may be classified,” Bala said.
In turn, political strategist Alexey Golobutsky says that the very holding of the meeting in the “Normandy format” is already some achievement for the Ukrainian authorities.
“I hope the option will be this: Vladimir Zelensky will ultimately say that he tried to come to an agreement, but he is not satisfied with the conditions proposed in Paris, and therefore Kyiv is moving on to “Plan B” - freezing the conflict in Donbass, building a conditional wall,” he said Golobutsky.
